Paul Nary is an Assistant Professor of Management (Strategy area) at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Nary’s expertise is in corporate strategy, especially large M&A transactions, as well as private equity, shareholder activism, and many types of external transaction strategies and investments. His research focuses on M&A transactions and corporate strategy decisons involving both public corporations and various private capital actors, such as private equity and activist investor firms. Professor Nary also currently teaches Corporate Development, Mergers, and Acquisitions (MGMT 7210) class in the full-time Wharton MBA program.

Dr. Nary’s work has been published in top strategy journals, including Strategic Management Journal and Academy of Management Review, and he is often cited in top media outlets, including American Banker, Associated Press, Forbes, Fortune, Investment News, NPR’s Marketplace, and The Wall Street Journal.

Recognized for his contributions to research, teaching, and service, Dr. Nary is a recipient of multiple awards and grants. He currently serves on the editorial review boards of Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Strategy Science, and Strategic Management Review and in leadership positions at the top management research societies.

Before becoming an academic, Dr. Nary gained over a decade of hands-on experience in finance and management roles at both public and private firms. As an entrepreneur, he has founded multiple business ventures (with varying degrees of success), giving him a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities that both young and mature organizations face.
